SUMMARY:Exhibition | Interstitial
DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Exhibition | Interstitial with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nINTERSTITIAL showcases six second-year MFA candidates from Florida Atlantic University working across printmaking\, book arts\, photography\, painting\, performance\, and sculpture. FAU’s MFA program emphasizes this interdisciplinary development–conceptual\, aesthetic\, technical\, and professional- with this exhibition presenting work made during their first year (out of three) in the program. \n“Interstitial” refers to the small\, narrow gaps between things: cracks\, intervals of time; it is the interstices that occur between objects or time periods. Curator\, Sarah E. Huang\, borrowed this term because it names where the students find themselves at their midpoint within the program. And although they are almost halfway through\, exhibiting together now allows viewers to trace the threads of the artists’ distinct\, idiosyncratic practices\, which will (and have) only become clearer through our individual studio and parallel practices. \nAs Huang looked more closely at the works her colleagues produced over the last year\, she found that they share a similar preoccupation with “betweenness.” Meaning\, each artist represented is working to reconcile some sort of dichotomy: material and immaterial\, process and object\, inner life and outer life. INTERSTITIAL is ultimately a record of these reconciliations\, albeit in process. \nAdmission information\nFree Admission \nPlan your visit\nCity: Delray BeachCounty: Palm Beach CountyVenue: Arts Warehouse313 NE 3rd Street\, Delray Beach FL 33444 \nView original event details \nMore arts and culture nearby\nExplore more Delray Beach events or browse the Palm Beach County arts and culture calendar with Art of the Times. \nSource: Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. SUMMARY:Lecture: Is it Legal or is it Right?
DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Lecture: Is it Legal or is it Right? with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nIs It Legal or Is It Right? \nMost people view the criminal justice system as a rigid framework of laws and rules\, but the reality is far more complex. In the high-stakes worlds of policing\, courts\, and corrections\, some of the most difficult decisions involve ethical questions that go beyond what is simply legal. \nThis thought-provoking presentation explores the gray areas where law\, ethics\, fairness\, responsibility\, and justice intersect. Beginning with a foundation in ethical reasoning\, the lecture uses real-world examples to examine why certain actions may be perfectly legal yet still feel fundamentally wrong—and how professionals navigate situations when the rulebook does not provide a clear answer. \nAdmission information\nMember: $30.40Non-Member: $38.00 \nPlan your visit\nThe source did not provide a city or venue. SUMMARY:Florida Talks: Hurricane! With Eliot Kleinberg
DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Florida Talks: Hurricane! With Eliot Kleinberg with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nEliot Keinberg spent nearly a half century reporting and writing about Florida. He was the lead hurricane reporter for the Palm Beach Post. Black Cloud draws on many primary sources (diaries\, interviews\, newspapers\, Red Cross) to tell the story of the death and destruction of the 1928 hurricane. 2500 people were killed in this tragedy. It was a time when racism still flourished in the South and 700 black people were hastily buried in an unmarked ditch in West Palm Beach. Even today this callous treatment stands out as a terrible moment in the tragedy. Kleinberg will discuss the hurricane\, which hit only 2 years after the devastating one of 1926 in Palm Beach County\, and how it echoes in history today. What did we learn and how did it change us? \nAdmission information\nFree Admission \nQuestions may be sent to historicalsocietylw@hotmail.com or call 561-632-9044. \nPlan your visit\nCity: Lake WorthCounty: Palm Beach CountyVenue: Lake Worth Beach Public Library15 North M Street\, Lake Worth FL 33460 \nView original event details \nMore arts and culture nearby\nExplore more Lake Worth events or browse the Palm Beach County arts and culture calendar with Art of the Times. \nSource: Cultural Council for Palm Beach County.
