SUMMARY:Exhibition | Interstitial
DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Exhibition | Interstitial with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nINTERSTITIAL showcases six second-year MFA candidates from Florida Atlantic University working across printmaking\, book arts\, photography\, painting\, performance\, and sculpture. FAU’s MFA program emphasizes this interdisciplinary development–conceptual\, aesthetic\, technical\, and professional- with this exhibition presenting work made during their first year (out of three) in the program. \n“Interstitial” refers to the small\, narrow gaps between things: cracks\, intervals of time; it is the interstices that occur between objects or time periods. Curator\, Sarah E. Huang\, borrowed this term because it names where the students find themselves at their midpoint within the program. And although they are almost halfway through\, exhibiting together now allows viewers to trace the threads of the artists’ distinct\, idiosyncratic practices\, which will (and have) only become clearer through our individual studio and parallel practices. \nAs Huang looked more closely at the works her colleagues produced over the last year\, she found that they share a similar preoccupation with “betweenness.” Meaning\, each artist represented is working to reconcile some sort of dichotomy: material and immaterial\, process and object\, inner life and outer life. INTERSTITIAL is ultimately a record of these reconciliations\, albeit in process. \nAdmission information\nFree Admission \nPlan your visit\nCity: Delray BeachCounty: Palm Beach CountyVenue: Arts Warehouse313 NE 3rd Street\, Delray Beach FL 33444 \nView original event details \nMore arts and culture nearby\nExplore more Delray Beach events or browse the Palm Beach County arts and culture calendar with Art of the Times. \nSource: Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Cary Hoffman – My Sinatra with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nThe “devil-may-care\,” style and incomparable charm of Frank Sinatra surge through the microphone once again at Cary Hoffman’s “riveting” show\, My Sinatra. \nA Sinatra idolizer with an unparalleled ability to channel the voice of Ol’ Blue Eyes… \nCary Hoffman turns his celebrated PBS Special into a biographical\, often hilarious\, and poignant one-man musical play about his love and idolization for his hero Frank Sinatra and the perils of wanting to become somebody else. \nHoffman captivates the audience with his intimate journey of what it was like growing up fatherless with three musician uncles\, who played on some of Sinatra’s greatest recordings\, turning Sinatra into a fantasy father. Hoffman authentically sings Sinatra “Dead On!” (The New York Times)\, as he weaves in over 20 classic Sinatra songs\, creating a musical score about his lifelong obsession. \nBAND MEMBERS:Cary Hoffman – Lead Singer \nAdmission information\n$64 – $69 (Including Fees) \nPlan your visit\nCity: Delray BeachCounty: Palm Beach CountyVenue: Arts Garage94 NE 2nd Ave\, Delray Beach FL 33444 \nView original event details \nMore arts and culture nearby\nExplore more Delray Beach events or browse the Palm Beach County arts and culture calendar with Art of the Times. \nSource: Cultural Council for Palm Beach County.
