SUMMARY:Exhibition | Interstitial
DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Exhibition | Interstitial with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nINTERSTITIAL showcases six second-year MFA candidates from Florida Atlantic University working across printmaking\, book arts\, photography\, painting\, performance\, and sculpture. FAU’s MFA program emphasizes this interdisciplinary development–conceptual\, aesthetic\, technical\, and professional- with this exhibition presenting work made during their first year (out of three) in the program. \n“Interstitial” refers to the small\, narrow gaps between things: cracks\, intervals of time; it is the interstices that occur between objects or time periods. Curator\, Sarah E. Huang\, borrowed this term because it names where the students find themselves at their midpoint within the program. And although they are almost halfway through\, exhibiting together now allows viewers to trace the threads of the artists’ distinct\, idiosyncratic practices\, which will (and have) only become clearer through our individual studio and parallel practices. \nAs Huang looked more closely at the works her colleagues produced over the last year\, she found that they share a similar preoccupation with “betweenness.” Meaning\, each artist represented is working to reconcile some sort of dichotomy: material and immaterial\, process and object\, inner life and outer life. INTERSTITIAL is ultimately a record of these reconciliations\, albeit in process. \nAdmission information\nFree Admission \nPlan your visit\nCity: Delray BeachCounty: Palm Beach CountyVenue: Arts Warehouse313 NE 3rd Street\, Delray Beach FL 33444 \nView original event details \nMore arts and culture nearby\nExplore more Delray Beach events or browse the Palm Beach County arts and culture calendar with Art of the Times. \nSource: Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Daniela Soledade Presents “The Girl From Ipanema” with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nDirect from Rio de Janeiro\, Internationally acclaimed Brazilian songstress Daniela Soledade and her band present ‘The Girl From Ipanema\,’ her brand new show of classic Bossa Nova and Samba Jazz. Experience the magic of Antonio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto with your favorite songs like Desafinado\, One Note Samba and of course The Girl From Ipanema. Accompanied by the Nate Najar Quartet including Santiago Galeano on piano\, Renee Cruz on bass and the legendary Claudio Infante on drums\, Daniela takes you on a romantic journey back to Rio de Janeiro and Ipanema Beach. \nPERFORMER BIO:Daniela Soledade is a rising star among legends in the Brazilian music scene. An heir \nto the throne of bossa nova\, Soledade is highly acclaimed for her poignantly expressive vocal style and hyper-intimate aesthetic. Drawing from an amalgamation of \nauthentic bossa nova\, samba\, MPB\, and American Popular Song\, Soledade is the new sound of Bossa Nova. \nBorn and raised in Rio de Janeiro\, Soledade’s family roots are steeped in Bossa Nova’s inception. Her grandfather\, Paulo Soledade composed popular song with renowned Bossa Nova founders Antônio Carlos Jobim\, Vinicius de Moraes\, Toquinho\, Baden Powell\, Fernando Lobo\, and others. \nWith a deep love of music embedded in her DNA\, Soledade’s singing career began at a young age. As a child\, she frequented the top recording studios in Rio de Janeiro\, observing and performing with her father\, musician and producer Paulinho Soledade. Soledade says of her early musical influences\, “Music has been my driving force since as far as I can remember\, and continues to be my main passion and inspiration every single day.” \nIn 2019\, Soledade established herself as the new sound of Bossa Nova with the release of her debut album A Moment of You. Featuring songs in both English and Portuguese\, Downbeat Magazine praised the album as “a careful curation of compositions… each of them contributing the perfect nuanced sound\, intimacy\, harmonious melodies and poetic rhythms while injecting the music with much needed freshness.” \nA brilliant collaborator\, Soledade has worked with many well-known artists in Brazilian music. Recent collaborations include Bossa Nova pioneer Roberto Menescal—the music video for his song “Rio” features Soledade’s English lyrics—as well as a recording with the composer of “Pretty World” Antonio Adolfo. \nToday\, Daniela Soledade’s deep passion for connecting with her listeners through her love of music extends beyond the stage. Boasting a robust online presence\, the vocalist regularly publishes thoughtfully curated content including a rigorous recording and video release schedule. During 2020 Soledade teamed up with guitarist and producer Nate Najar to livestream a weekly duo concert series \nentitled “Love & Bossa Nova.” Running for over a year\, the series was featured by JazzTimes hailing both Soledade’s “exquisite vocals” and Najar’s “masterful” guitar playing. \nAlongside the singer’s well-received live concert streams\, Soledade also enjoys success across multiple digital streaming platforms.
SUMMARY:Cary Hoffman – My Sinatra
DESCRIPTION:Art of the Times is pleased to share information about Cary Hoffman – My Sinatra with our readers. \nEvent information supplied via the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. \nAbout this event\nThe “devil-may-care\,” style and incomparable charm of Frank Sinatra surge through the microphone once again at Cary Hoffman’s “riveting” show\, My Sinatra. \nA Sinatra idolizer with an unparalleled ability to channel the voice of Ol’ Blue Eyes… \nCary Hoffman turns his celebrated PBS Special into a biographical\, often hilarious\, and poignant one-man musical play about his love and idolization for his hero Frank Sinatra and the perils of wanting to become somebody else. \nHoffman captivates the audience with his intimate journey of what it was like growing up fatherless with three musician uncles\, who played on some of Sinatra’s greatest recordings\, turning Sinatra into a fantasy father. Hoffman authentically sings Sinatra “Dead On!” (The New York Times)\, as he weaves in over 20 classic Sinatra songs\, creating a musical score about his lifelong obsession. \nBAND MEMBERS:Cary Hoffman – Lead Singer \nAdmission information\n$64 – $69 (Including Fees) \nPlan your visit\nCity: Delray BeachCounty: Palm Beach CountyVenue: Arts Garage94 NE 2nd Ave\, Delray Beach FL 33444 \nView original event details \nMore arts and culture nearby\nExplore more Delray Beach events or browse the Palm Beach County arts and culture calendar with Art of the Times. \nSource: Cultural Council for Palm Beach County.
