Fine Art Dealers Association

Experiencing first-hand the depth of the local Palm Beach area arts and cultural scene, internationally renowned Contessa Gallery has extended their commitment to their new seasonal satellite location in West Palm Beach, Florida. The two-story, 8,000 sq ft gallery space located at 539 Clematis Street, at the corner of Rosemary was selected to better serve the gallery’s extensive clientele in the South Florida region. Initially open by appointment only in the month of February, the gallery will now be open through the end of April with plans to provide the fabulous gallery space for local organizations to host charitable functions and other special events.

Local collectors have taken note of Contessa Gallery’s entry into the local market.  Jane Holzer remarks, “As an avid art collector and resident of Palm Beach, it’s exciting to witness a first-rate gallery, such as Contessa select our city as a satellite location.  The gallery has a very impressive roster of artists and an impeccable reputation.  Steve Hartman has proven to be a formidable curator, visionary and tastemaker in identifying, nurturing and positioning artistic talent. The more galleries of this caliber the better it is for the community.”
“This gallery, and the high-caliber artists showcased, is a win for Downtown West Palm Beach and further validation of the growing appeal and attraction of the area as a destination for the arts,” said Raphael Clemente, Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority.

Steve Hartman, founder and owner of Contessa Gallery and recipient of several art industry awards was recently elected as the President of the Fine Arts Dealers Association (FADA).  Hartman also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Art World News Magazine.

“The response we’ve seen to our presence in the South Florida art scene has been exceptional. We’ve experienced a phenomenal welcome from Collectors, The Downtown Development Association as well as the City of West Palm Beach.  The Palm Beach Modern & Contemporary Show on what is locally referred to as the “Tent Site” was a unique venue which attracted an impressive attendance of important patrons. That, followed by an incredibly successful Art Wynwood Fair in Miami, completely energized our team. This has led us to bring in new works weekly to add to our new Satellite Gallery on Clematis Street.” explains Steve Hartman.

Currently on display is a specially curated collection of works by leading contemporary artists, including a very extensive selection by pop & street art sensation, Mr. Brainwash. Contessa Gallery is excited to showcase the artist’s continual revolutionary experimentation with new techniques, media, materials and subject matter. The special exhibition includes original Mr. Brainwash works on Wood, Metal, Brick, Cement, Canvas, Paper, Sculpture and Neon Light Mixed Media. The gallery also features artwork by David Drebin, Hijack, Gilles Cenazandotti, and local emerging artistCayla Birk.
