Art Miami Kicks Off its 2017 Winter Season with the Inaugural

Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Fair

The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary art fair, presented by Art Miami and sponsored by the City of West Palm Beach, will make its debut in from January 12th through January 15th, 2017.

The fair will open on Thursday evening with an exclusive VIP Preview benefiting The Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, sponsored by Christie’s International Real Estate who is the official luxury real estate sponsor of Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary. Together with its international affiliates, Christie’s International Real Estate will host an elegant booth at the main entrance of the fair, showcasing luxury residential property offerings from around the world.

As the newest addition to the prestigious Art Miami Group, celebrating its 27th year, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary will bring a world-class art fair back to Palm Beach during the height of the season, filling a void in the local collecting scene. The fair, which will curate and offer the best investment quality works from the 20th and 21st centuries, will take place in the intimate and modern setting of a 65,000-square-foot clear span pavilion centrally located between CityPlace and the luxurious Hilton West Palm Beach.

Nick Korniloff, Art Miami LLC Founder and Fair Director, said, “I started my career in Palm Beach, so it is an honor to bring back a much needed first class high quality modern and contemporary fair that matches the culturally savvy lifestyle and philanthropy of the community. We are proud to have partnered with the leading local cultural institutions to ensure that our fair continues to reinforce Palm Beach County as true cultural destination. We are confident that those living or vacationing in the tri-county area of South Florida will have an incredible opportunity to visit the fair in the City of West Palm Beach and acquire some of the most important works of art from the 20thand 21st centuries.”

Collectors, art connoisseurs and art world luminaries alike will have the opportunity to acquire investment quality blue chip contemporary, Post-War works from fifty top international galleries over the four days of the fair. These premier galleries will come to Palm Beach County and the exciting City of West Palm Beach from as far as Japan, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, The Netherlands, Portugal and Venezuela. Participating galleries previously have been featured in numerous prominent international fairs, including TEFAF in Maastricht and New York, The Armory Show, Masterpiece London, Art Miami, Expo Chicago, and many others.

The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary will showcase important works from renowned artists Josef Albers, John Chamberlain, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, among others.

Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary has partnered with the historic Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, which will serve as a satellite venue and exclusive cultural partner for the fair, and commemorate the fair with a special exhibit of artist Sophie Ryder’s monumental and small-scale sculptures, which will continue through April 2017, courtesy of Waterhouse & Dodd. Complimentary shuttle service will be available daily between the fair and ANSG during general show hours.

The fair will also present an exhibition curated by Jeffrey Deitch, featuring works by Francis Picabia from the Jeff and Mei Sze Greene Collection. These works will not be for sale, and selected pieces currently are on display at The Museum of Modern Art through mid-March.

On Tuesday, January 10, the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary fair will kick-off with Spotlight Luncheon in 2017: Evolution of an Artist, an event presented by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County at the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion, where life-long creative Bernie Taupin will discuss his career and evolution as an artist. A special selection of Mr. Taupin’s works will be on exhibit and for sale at the luncheon, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Cultural Council and the Perry J. Cohen Foundation. He has been a resident of Palm Beach County for the last 34 years, is a nationally recognized artist, curator and writer; a member of the Florida Artists Hall of Fame; and a former White House Fellow of the National Endowment for the Arts. The presentation of this noteworthy acknowledgement will coincide with Helander’s 70th birthday, and there will be a special projects exhibition of his paintings and collages at the fair. By Invitation Only.

Visual and recording artist ABH (Al Baseer Holly) will present his successful “Childhood Access Memories Exhibition” to benefit the Perry J. Cohen Foundation (PJCF). ABH’s work has been quietly collected by those in the know. The artwork on display will be highly sought after to support a great cause, and the PJCF will use the proceeds from sales to help fund the “Perry J. Cohen Wetlands Laboratory at Jupiter Community High School.”www.pjcf.org

The fair is in the heart of West Palm Beach, within proximity to the city’s art, design and antique row district, and within walking distance to popular Clematis Street, local museums, parks and historical points of interest. The famed island of Palm Beach with world-class shopping is less than a quarter mile east.

The fair’s refined ambiance will be welcoming and appealing to all levels of visitors, from the seasoned collector looking to acquire new works to the budding art enthusiast looking to start a new meaningful collection.
