Carnegie Hall Makes History with a Major Romantic Event

***ARTIST APPROVED***
Daniel Barenboim

From January 19-29th, Daniel Barenboim, one of the great Bruckner conductors of our time, returns to Carnegie Hall after a four-year absence to lead the legendary Staatskapelle Berlin in all nine of the composer’s numbered symphonies. This stellar musical event marks the first time the entire Bruckner cycle will be played in US history.

Anton Bruckner, (1824-1896) was the most romantic of the Romantic composers, wrote symphonies of astonishing emotion and power. These works are melodic, lyrical and filled with drama, music that evokes hunting horns in deep forests and music from the great cathedrals of Europe.

Daniel Barenboim, who is the orchestra’s “Conductor for Life,” is also a major pianist and interpreter of Mozart. So each of the nine consecutive Bruckner symphony concerts will feature an added treasure: Barenboim playing a range of Mozart concertos and symphonies. The orchestra, which was originally founded in 1570, is one of the finest on the planet.

This program is a gift to New York City, a light in the depths of winter.  (www.carnegiehall.org/bruckner).
