(April 11, 2016) – Sheldon Fine Art will host modern impressionist artist, Joyce Norwood, on Thursday, April 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sheldon Fine Art, located at 460 5th Avenue South in Naples, Florida. The event is open to the public and will take place during 5th Avenue South’s monthly Evening on 5th event. Attendees will enjoy the opportunity to meet with the artist as she discusses her work.
Joyce Norwood is a contemporary artist who works in oils, using paintings knives as well as brushes to capture her favorite subjects – the human figure, small sailing boats, and the floral still life. Norwood has been drawing and painting since childhood and began her education at New York’s Art Student League, studying under Robert Brackman and William Draper. Intrigued with the impressionist approach to full color, Norwood continued her studies at the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Painting there, her eyes were opened to how light affects color and how this new perception of light could be translated onto the canvas using, what is now, her signature “radiant” color palette. An award-winning artist, Norwood is represented by Sheldon Fine Art in both Naples, Florida and Newport, Rhode Island. Her paintings are found in both private and corporate collections worldwide.
