The esteemed private collection will stage year-long, large-scale exhibitions by major artists.
Mana Contemporary is pleased to announce that the Ayn Foundation is joining its art center by bringing their collection to a 5,000-square-foot gallery on Mana’s first floor. The foundation will present year-long solo artist exhibitions, beginning with Arnulf Rainer (b. 1929, Austria), considered one of the most inventive abstract painters of the 20th century. By manipulating form, composition, and perception, Rainer’s work captures extreme emotional states. The exhibition, Arnulf Rainer, opens to the public on October 18, 2015, and is on view through August 1, 2016.
Ayn Foundation was founded in 1993 and is dedicated to presenting comprehensive, large-scale, and permanent installations by major international artists to the public. Current projects by the Ayn Foundation include Andy Warhol’s The Last Supper and Maria Zerres’ September Eleven in Marfa, Texas. Past projects include the establishment of the Arnulf Rainer Museum in Chelsea, New York, from 1993–95, as well as projects by Joa Baldinger, John Chamberlin, and Dan Flavin. “It was always our goal to bring a collection of this caliber to Mana, and the Ayn Foundation fits perfectly,” said Eugene Lemay, founder and president of Mana Contemporary. “They believe that important works of art require long periods of time in order to be understood, and we share that belief. These are not shows that you go to once—they are an experience to visit again and again.”
