Just like the previous versions in 2007 and 2011, the MDE15 aim develops outside of the Museo de Antioquia, in places called “host spaces.” These are alternative, self-funded spaces, led by young independent artists who promote new forms of production and art circulations, differing to the traditional. These host spaces work as cultural centers, meeting points, workshops and galleries.

The MDE15 invites eleven host spaces in the city to add their new artistic projects or works towards the encounters progress. The aim is to reflect upon the transformation of the city and its ethical implications, therefore turning these spaces into encounter satellites all over town, strengthening local processes and generating exchanges.

The following are the host spaces for the MDE15: Taller 7, Campos de Gutiérrez, Por Estos Días, Casa Tres Patios, Rizoma Ultravioleta, Casa de las Estrategias (Casa Morada), Corporación Cultural Nuestra Gente, Platohedro, Proyecto NN, El Puente_Lab and UnLoquer.

Host spaces have been present in the International Encounters of Medellin since the first version in 2007. Today, they are places for promoting culture and arts, thanks to the production of collective and individual artistic projects. These projects create discussion, the exchange of ideas and the practice of concepts that are important in contemporary visual arts. Carrying out activities such as talks, conferences, seminars and exhibitions with young artists, experienced artists, locals and foreigners (as residents or exhibitors) who socialize within these host spaces, as well as their surroundings and in other fields of the city and the country.

The International Art Encounter of Medellin, organized by the Museo de Antioquia, will take place from October 2015 to February 2016 in Colombia.
