Luminous, brilliant and funny, always perfectly in-synch with her time and place, WendyWasserstein was arguably one of the 20th century’s finest playwrights. Producers Jeffrey Richards and Associates have staged the first Broadway revival of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning production of her play, The Heidi Chronicles.

This production really nails the time frames through which it travels, with perfect evocations through sets, costumes and music. From the sixties, with its nascent feminism, to the raucous consciousness-raising of the 70’s and to the having-it-all mythology of the 80’s, this production is true to the play and to its mission.

The play stars Golden Globe-winner and six-time Emmy Award-nominee Elisabeth Moss of “Mad Men,” fame” in the title role. Her Heidi is pure and complicated, central to the action while at the same time functioning as its quiet observer. Moss is joined by Emmy Award-nominee Jason Biggs playing Scoop, and Bryce Pinkham does a spectacular job in the role of Peter.. Ali Ahn plays the role of Susan Johnston, Leighton Bryan plays the roles of Jill/Debbie/Lisa, Tracee Chimo plays the roles of Fran/Molly/Betsy/April, Elise Kibler plays the roles of Becky/Clara/Denise, and Andy Truschinski plays the roles of Chris Boxer/Mark/Waiter/Ray.

Tony Award-winner Pam MacKinnon directs this production.. The Heidi Chronicles is the poignant coming-of-age story of three iconic decades of American culture: the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Through Heidi Holland, now a successful art historian, Wendy Wasserstein looks back on the promises of a generation in the Pulitzer and Tony Award®-winning work that established her voice in the canon of quintessential theater forever. In its first Broadway revival, The Heidi Chronicles charts 19 characters through 13 scenes in 3 decades and 4 cities, as three unlikely friends come to realize that the fight for what you believe in can bring you a long way… maybe. This is a superb production; don’t miss it.
