Making his first NYC recital appearance in 7 years, on December 3, Itzhak Perlman returns to the stage of Avery Fisher Hall in recital with longtime collaborator and pianist Rohan De Silva. As today’s reigning virtuoso of the violin, Mr. Perlman enjoys superstar status rarely afforded a classical musician. Beloved for his charm and humanity as well as his talent, he is treasured by audiences throughout the world who respond not only to his remarkable artistry, but also to his irrepressible joy for making music. His irrepressible joy for making music is demonstrated in the impressive range of his commitments, from guest-starring on Sesame Street to performing at President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

A talented player by the age of 10, the Israeli-born Perlman first performed on television at the age of 13 on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1958, and in the same year attended Juilliard School, studying under some of violin’s greatest players. His work is varied, from traditional Jewish music to working with John Williams on some of the most iconic movie scores in cinema, including Schindler’s List and Memoirs of a Geisha.

His live orchestra performances are highly acclaimed and much coveted, having played with many of the most esteemed orchestras from across the world. Perlman has performed the works of such iconic greats as Dvorak, Mozart, Brahms, Vivaldi and Beethoven, and collaborated with contemporary legends like Emmanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, Kathleen Battle, Yitzchak Meir Helfgot and Placido Domingo.
