The gallery’s focus will be on contemporary art that has a strong historical lineage while challenging current aesthetic conventions. Sargent’s Daughters takes its name from the painter John Singer Sargent, who was an innovator working in a traditional medium.
Allegra LaViola, a native New Yorker, opened her eponymous gallery in 2008 with an emphasis on painting and performance. Her gallery was featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Time Out New York and Art in America among other publications.
Prior to launching Sargent’s Daughters, Rosen was the director of BravinLee for four years. She has published articles in Hyperalleric, Escape into Life and Artlog.
Sargent’s Daughters has received press about the upcoming launch from Gallerist and Art F City. The Gallery is located at 179 East Broadway in NYC
