The Baker Museum of Artis—Naples. On view, will be works from one of the Museum’s most important collections amassed by the late Ahmet Ertegün, an exhibition of life-sized and intricate costumes made from paper by Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave and a retrospective survey of the work of Dutch sculptor Hanneke Beaumont.
“The Museum’s permanent collection has not yet received the (inter)national exposure it deserves,” stated The Baker Museum Director and Chief Curator Frank Verpoorten. “Therefore we are increasingly committed to developing exhibitions from our eclectic holdings. In addition we are presenting an impressive series of fascinating and compelling exhibitions that illustrate the richness and diversity of our programmatic scope.”
All major exhibitions will be shown in The Baker Museum’s main galleries. In addition, the Museum will host the Schrenk Student Photography Exhibition in the Hayes Hall galleries. As part of its commitment to presenting world-class exhibits, the Museum has engaged noted designer Dan Kershaw.

Papiers à la Mode: The Exquisite Art of Isabelle de Borchgrave
September 21, 2013 – January 12, 2014
Featuring over 50 period costumes, kimonos, kaftans and other objects intricately crafted out of paper by Belgian artist and sculptor Isabelle de Borchgrave. A painter by training and by passion, the artist turned her talent for trompe l’oeil to paper sculptures, crumpling, pleating, braiding and painting the surface of simple rag paper to achieve the effect of textiles and create the illusion of haute couture. With fashion historian Rita Brown, she created Papiers à la Mode, a collection of costumes in paper and paint that offers a fresh look at fashion history from Elizabeth I to Coco Chanel.
