Larry Kaye, took a major U-turn mid-career and transformed himself into a (Tony nominated) Broadway producer, as well as director and playwright . A big man with big talent whose desire to follow his creative dreams would be an inspiration to anybody considering a mid-career change. Having practiced law for 20 years and with diminishing satisfaction from litigating, he was looking for something “to feed my soul”, be involved with a more creative medium that would foster “a more balanced, left-brain, right brain existence.”

Now paying off as Larry hopes to break out this year: he is a producing partner with DC-based Arena Stage on a pre-Broadway engagement of the play, The Velocity of Autumn, and will be the lead producer (a first for Larry) as he tries to bring the show to Broadway this year. Additionally, in his second role as a lead producer, Larry anticipates bringing a revival of Pulitzer Prize winning author Beth Henley’s hilarious comedy, The Miss Firecracker Contest, to Broadway.

Kaye, who graduated from American University’s Washington College of Law in 1991 and was named “Lawyer of the Year” by the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association in 2008, has not completely giving up his passion for law. He will launch next month The Winning Litigator, a new company that teaches attorneys how to use stage presence/courtroom presentation to augment trial strategy.

Kaye’s production company HOP Theatricals, has been involved with a number of shows on Broadway and off-Broadway, including HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS (Tony nominated) with Daniel Radcliffe and
John Larroquette, AMERICAN IDIOT (Tony nominated), OLEANNA, and BLITHE SPIRIT (with Angela Lansbury). Kaye is also involved in the Broadway play, The Trip to Bountiful, starring Cicely Tyson.
