MCLEMOI GALLERY is pleased to present David Rankin’s The New York Years, an exhibition and book launch celebrating the work of one of Australia’s most prominent working artists.

Rankin’s latest book will launch at MCLEMOI GALLERY in Sydney as part of an Australia-wide event, also hosted by galleries in Melbourne and Brisbane. Written by Dore Ashton with an introduction by Peter Carey, twice recipient of the Booker Prize; the book will be available for purchase on the night, along with a limited number of special edition copies which include an original artwork stitched inside, as well as personal inscriptions by the artist.

The exhibition of thirteen key pieces offers a retrospective of Rankin’s iconic large-scale paintings, in addition to a number of smaller works. Drawing on a diverse range of influences, Rankin’s works are closely linked to notions of spirituality and place, themes that manifest in the abstract motifs and patterns which are repeated throughout each work.
