It’s that time of year again—the time when cities all over the U.S. and Canada welcome in the new year with traditional Viennese celebrations in music and dance. Frothy and delightful, these performances, from Vienna’s rich and exuberant opera, operetta, concert and dance traditions, ballet, waltzes and polkas, have become a beloved fixture in the many cities where “Salute to Vienna” is held. These productions feature The Strauss Symphony of America, with the terrific conductor, Andras Deak and some of Europe’s finest singers including soprano Sera Gosch and tenor Michael Heim. The delight Kiev-Aniko Ballet from Ukraine will also perform. “Salute to Vienna” is like spending a few hours in Europe. Lovers of all things Viennese make this an annual, not-to-be missed event.
