The internationally acclaimed sculptor Boaz Vaadia, born in Israel with Bukharian ancestors, was honored at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on June 11th at an event to kick off the 12th Annual Russian Heritage Month. Mr. Vaadia was one of several honorees at the event at which Mayor Bill de Blasio was the keynote speaker. Also in attendance were Consul General of Israel in New York, Ambassador Ido Aharoni, and Ambassador Ron Prosor, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations along with many other ambassadors and dignitaries. Mr. Vaadia and Consul General Aharoni also had the pleasure of presenting Mayor de Blasio with a gift of a work of art created by Mr. Vaadia.
