Friends of the Sands Point Preserve presents a world-class design showhouse at historic Hempstead House on the Guggenheim Estate on November 2 – 24, 2013, open Wednesdays through Mondays (closed Tuesdays), 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Leading interior designers will transform this magnificent Tudor-style mansion, inspired by “Titans” in the worlds of business, technology, entertainment, fashion, gardening, publishing, and the arts. The Design Showhouse, will raise essential funds for restoration projects at Hempstead House. Special events, lecture programs, and workshops are offered as part of the Showhouse Tours, including an exhibition in the Guggenheim Gallery of paintings and photography by local artists, with an Artists’ Reception on November 10, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.; and music concerts by youth chamber music ensembles on Sundays, November 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2013, as part of the Friends’ Arts in Education initiative. The new Palm Court Café at Hempstead House will serve food and beverages, elegantly prepared by Philip Stone Caterer on Showhouse Tour dates from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
